BigSpy Review: Features, Pricing and Alternatives

If you run ads for a small or medium business, you cannot afford to test twenty creative ideas to find the two that work. Ad spy tools let you see what bigger advertisers and direct competitors are running, and start from the ideas that are already live. BigSpy is one of the biggest of these tools.

We first reviewed it in 2024 at $9 a month. In 2026 BigSpy rebuilt its pricing, and the cheapest paid plan is now $69 a month. This review covers what the tool does, what has changed, who should pay for it, and when the free ad libraries are enough. Prices were checked on bigspy.com in October 2026.

What Is BigSpy?

BigSpy is a web-based ad intelligence (ad spy) tool. It crawls ads from Facebook, Instagram, Google Ads, YouTube, TikTok, X, Pinterest, Yahoo and several mobile ad networks into one library, which it says holds hundreds of millions of creatives. You search by advertiser name, keyword, image or feature, filter by platform, country, format, objective and date, sort by popularity, and save competitors to track.

The point is inspiration and competitive research, not measurement: BigSpy shows you what is running and roughly how it is performing, so you can borrow the structure of ads that have clearly been working for a while.

How BigSpy Works

BigSpy search interface

Sign up (Google login works), pick a platform, and search. A search for an advertiser returns every ad BigSpy has captured from them, with the creative, copy, landing page, first-seen and last-seen dates, countries, placements and an engagement figure. Searching a keyword or industry returns ads from every advertiser using it, which is where the sort by popularity option earns its keep: the ads at the top are the ones with the most engagement, and an ad that has been running for months is usually an ad that is paying for itself.

The interface is dense. Expect an hour of poking around before the filters make sense, after which it is quick.

Key Features

BigSpy filter bar

  • Search and filters. Platform, country, language, ad format (image, video, carousel), creative type, call-to-action, marketing objective, e-commerce platform, first and last seen dates. The filters are what separate BigSpy from the free libraries.
  • Ad details. Each ad shows impressions estimates, popularity, run duration, placements, operating systems, countries, languages and the landing page.

  • Tracking. Save advertisers or individual creatives to a tracked list and get updates when they launch new ads. Tracked-creative caps are the main thing the plans differ on (20 free, 100 Starter, 500 Growth, 1,000 Ultimate).
  • Visual and feature search. Upload an image or describe a feature to find similar creatives across the library. Capped per day by plan.
  • Ad Ideas. A curated feed of top-performing ads by category and time period, useful when you need a starting point rather than a specific competitor.

BigSpy Pricing in 2026

This is the section that changed. From BigSpy’s pricing page, October 2026:

Free$0$0Facebook only10 a dayNone201
Starter$69$49/mo ($588)Facebook, Instagram, AppLovinUnlimited100 a day1001
Growth$159$119/mo ($1,428)8: adds Google Ads, YouTube, X, TikTok, PangleUnlimited1,000 a day5001
Scale$399$299/mo ($3,588)Same 8Unlimited1,000 a day per seat500 per seat5 (1 owner + 4)
Ultimate$499$399/mo ($4,788)All 11: adds Pinterest, Yahoo, UnityUnlimited2,000 a day1,0001

Three things to note:

  • The $9 Basic plan and the $1 trial from our 2024 review are gone. Entry is now $69 a month, or $49 if you commit to a year.
  • Starter does not include TikTok, YouTube or Google. If the reason you want an ad spy tool is to see what works on TikTok, you need Growth at $159.
  • The free plan is a demo, not a tool. Ten Facebook searches a day with no filters worth mentioning. Use it to decide whether the interface suits you, then either pay or use the free libraries below.

Who Should Pay for BigSpy

Worth it if you:

  • Run creative for several clients or brands and need to research across Meta, Google, YouTube and TikTok in one place.
  • Want popularity sorting and competitor tracking rather than scrolling an ad library by hand.
  • Produce a lot of creative and need a steady feed of tested concepts.

Not worth it if you:

  • Advertise one business on Facebook and Instagram. The Meta Ad Library shows every active ad from any Page, free, including the copy, creative and start date. You lose popularity sorting, but for a handful of competitors you can see what they keep running.
  • Need spend data. BigSpy estimates impressions and popularity, not budgets.
  • Are spending under about $2,000 a month on ads. At that level $69 to $159 a month on research is a meaningful slice of the budget, and a free library plus your own A/B tests will teach you more.

For most readers of this blog, who run lead ads for a service business, the first four cover it. Where BigSpy wins is breadth and sorting, and that matters most to agencies.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • The largest multi-platform library of the mainstream spy tools.
  • Popularity sorting and run-duration data surface ads that are clearly working.
  • Competitor tracking with alerts on new creative.
  • Good filters once you learn them.

Cons

  • Price has roughly seven times the old entry point, and the useful platforms start at $159 a month.
  • The free plan is too limited to be useful.
  • No spend data, and impression figures are estimates.
  • Interface takes time to learn.
  • Coverage of smaller markets and local advertisers is patchy; the Meta Ad Library is more complete for any specific Page.

Is BigSpy Worth It?

For agencies and in-house creative teams researching across platforms, yes: at $119 to $159 a month on the Growth plan it pays for itself in one good creative concept. For a single small business advertising on Meta, no: use the Meta Ad Library, borrow the structure of the ads your competitors keep running, and spend the money on testing in your own account.

Whichever you use, remember that an ad spy tool shows you what competitors run, not what converts for them. A lead ad that has run for six months may be feeding a CRM full of unqualified leads. Judge your own creative on cost per lead and what happens after the lead arrives, and make sure every lead reaches you in seconds with instant lead notifications so a good ad is not wasted on a slow follow-up.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is BigSpy?

BigSpy is a web-based ad intelligence tool that collects ads from Facebook, Instagram, Google Ads, YouTube, TikTok, X, Pinterest, Yahoo and mobile ad networks into one searchable library. Marketers use it to see what competitors are running, find high-performing creative to learn from, and track specific advertisers over time.

How much does BigSpy cost?

As of October 2026, BigSpy has a Free plan (10 Facebook searches a day), Starter at $69 a month ($49 billed yearly) for Facebook, Instagram and AppLovin, Growth at $159 a month ($119 yearly) for 8 platforms including Google, YouTube, TikTok and X, Scale at $399 a month for 5 seats, and Ultimate at $499 a month ($399 yearly) for all 11 platforms including Pinterest.

Is BigSpy free?

There is a free plan, but it is limited to 10 searches a day on Facebook ads only, with 20 tracked creatives. It is enough to try the interface, not enough to do ongoing research. The 2024 $1 trial and $9 Basic plan no longer exist.

What platforms does BigSpy support?

Facebook, Instagram, Google Ads, YouTube, X (Twitter), TikTok, Pangle, AppLovin, Pinterest, Yahoo and Unity. Which ones you get depends on the plan: Starter covers Facebook, Instagram and AppLovin; Growth and Scale add Google, YouTube, X, TikTok and Pangle; Ultimate adds Pinterest, Yahoo and Unity.

What are the best alternatives to BigSpy?

Free: the Meta Ad Library, Google Ads Transparency Center, TikTok Creative Center and LinkedIn’s ad library on company pages, which together cover most platforms for a single advertiser. Paid: AdSpy, Minea and Foreplay for e-commerce and creative teams, and Adbeat or Pathmatics for display and spend estimates.

Does BigSpy show competitor ad spend?

No. BigSpy shows impressions estimates, popularity, run duration, placements, countries and languages, but not what the advertiser paid. For spend estimates on large advertisers you need a panel-based tool such as Pathmatics. For your own campaigns, judge creative by cost per lead in Ads Manager.
