How to Send Google Ads Leads to Copper with LeadSync

Copper CRM is built for Google Workspace teams. If you’re running your business on Gmail and Google Calendar, Copper is your natural CRM home. But manually moving Google Ads leads into Copper wastes time and creates data entry errors. LeadSync closes this gap — Google Ads leads become Copper People records in seconds, with every custom field automatically mapped and ready for your sales team to work.

Quick Start — 5 Steps to Sync Google Ads Leads

This integration works because Copper’s API is straightforward and LeadSync handles field mapping automatically. Setup takes about 10 minutes.

  1. Log into your Copper account and copy your API key and email address from Settings > Integrations > API.
  2. Log into LeadSync and set up your Google Ads connection (Ad Accounts > Google, then Add Google Account via OAuth).
  3. Add a new Copper connection in LeadSync and paste your API key and email.
  4. Connect your Google Lead Form Extension to this Copper connection.
  5. Map your form fields to Copper People custom fields (most of this happens automatically).
  6. Save. Leads now sync instantly to Copper.

Why Sync Google Ads Leads to Copper CRM?

Copper is the CRM that understands how Google Workspace teams work. Here’s why LeadSync + Copper is a winning combination:

  • Native Gmail integration: All your lead data lives in Copper and syncs directly into Gmail. No tab switching.
  • Zero manual data entry: Leads arrive in Copper as complete People records within seconds of form submission.
  • Custom fields fully supported: Every question on your Google lead form maps to a Copper custom field — segmentation and automation ready.
  • Google Calendar automation: Create tasks and calendar events from Copper leads automatically.
  • Multi-channel campaigns: Sync leads from Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok to the same Copper account and workspace.
  • No Zapier or third-party workflows: One direct API connection. No monthly integration fees.
  • Free 14-day trial: Full access to all features while you test with real campaigns.

Step-by-Step: Connect Google Ads Leads to Copper CRM

Step 1: Get Your Copper API Credentials

Copper requires two pieces of authentication: your account email and your API key. Both are found in one place.

Log into your Copper account. Click on your account icon (top right) and select “Settings.” Look for “Integrations” in the left sidebar, then click “API.” You’ll see your account email at the top and your API Key below. Copy both — you’ll need them for LeadSync.

Keep both the email and key handy. Lose the API key? You can regenerate it anytime from this same page, but you’ll need to update LeadSync with the new key.

Step 2: Connect Your Google Ads Account in LeadSync

Log into LeadSync. Click “Ad Accounts” in the left menu, then “Google.”

Click “Add Google Account.” LeadSync will redirect you to Google’s login screen. Sign in with the Google account that has access to your Google Ads campaigns. Authorize LeadSync to access your ads data. Once authorized, your Google Ads account will appear in the LeadSync dashboard, and you’re ready to proceed.

LeadSync validates your connection immediately. If you see your Google Ads account in the table, you’re connected and ready to move to the next step.

Step 3: Add Copper Connection in LeadSync

Log into LeadSync. Click “Connections” in the top menu, then “Add Connections.”

Find Copper in the dropdown list. You’ll see two fields: “Email” and “API Key.” Paste your Copper account email in the first field and your API key in the second. Name this connection (example: “Copper – Main Workspace”) and click “Update Connection.”

LeadSync validates both credentials immediately. If you see a green checkmark, the connection is live. If you see an error, verify that you copied the full email address and full API key with no extra spaces or line breaks.

Step 4: Connect Your Google Lead Form Extension

Now tell LeadSync which Google Lead Form Extension to monitor. Click “Lead Forms” and select “Add Google Lead Form.”

Select your Google Ads account from the dropdown (the one you connected in Step 2). Then select your Lead Form Extension from the dropdown. In the “Destination” section, select your Copper connection from the dropdown. Click “Update Notifications.”

That’s it. Every lead submitted to this form will now sync to Copper as a new People record.

Step 5: Map Your Form Fields to Copper Custom Fields

LeadSync automatically maps standard fields (email, first name, last name, phone, company). But if your Google lead form includes custom questions, you’ll want to map those to Copper custom fields so your team has the full context.

Go back to your lead form connection and click “Edit Field Mapping.” You’ll see all form fields on the left and available Copper fields on the right. Match them by dragging or using the dropdown menu.

Only Copper custom fields that already exist in your account will appear. If you created a custom field in Copper but don’t see it here, refresh the page or wait a minute for LeadSync to sync with Copper.

Step 6: Test and Monitor Syncs

Submit a test lead to your Google lead form and watch Copper. Within 1-2 minutes, a new Person should appear in Copper with all fields populated correctly.

If nothing appears, check LeadSync’s Activity log (on your dashboard) for error messages. Most issues are API credential problems — double-check that both your email and API key are correct, or verify that your Google account has proper access to the ad account.

Customizing Your Google Ads to Copper Integration

Once syncing is live, you can fine-tune how leads are created and tagged in Copper.

Creating Custom Fields in Copper for Your Google Lead Form

If your Google lead form asks questions that don’t have a standard Copper field (like “What’s your budget?” or “How soon do you want to start?”), you’ll want to create corresponding Copper custom fields.

In Copper, go to Settings > Customize > People > Custom Fields. Click “Add Custom Field,” choose your field type (text, dropdown, date, etc.), and save. Once saved, the field will appear in LeadSync’s field mapping interface.

Map your Google form question to this new custom field so the answer flows through automatically.

Using Copper Pipelines and Statuses

LeadSync creates Copper People records but doesn’t automatically create Opportunity records (which live in pipelines). You can use Copper’s automation to convert People into Opportunities with a specific status, or your team can manually drag People into the pipeline.

For example, set up a Copper workflow: “When a Person is created, create an Opportunity in the Sales Pipeline with status ‘New Lead.'” Now all your Google Ads leads go straight into your pipeline automatically.

Multiple Forms to Multiple Copper Workspaces

If you have multiple Copper workspaces or want to segment leads by campaign, create separate Copper connections in LeadSync. For example, “Copper – Product A” and “Copper – Product B,” each with its own API credentials.

Then connect different Google lead forms to different Copper connections. Leads stay organized by campaign automatically.

Deduplication and Duplicate People

If the same email address submits your form twice, Copper’s deduplication typically catches it and updates the existing Person record instead of creating a duplicate. You can also enable Copper’s “Merge People” feature in Settings to clean up duplicates manually.

Go Beyond Copper: Multi-Channel Lead Routing

Copper CRM is one piece of the puzzle. LeadSync syncs the same leads to email, SMS, Slack, Google Sheets, and dozens of other tools — all from one Google lead form.

Many Google Workspace teams use Copper + Email + Slack. This keeps leads in your CRM, alerts your team immediately, and centralizes conversation in Slack.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which LeadSync account tier do I need for Copper?

You need a Business or Agency account in LeadSync. Copper integration is not available on the free tier. Start a free 14-day trial of any paid plan to test with your real campaigns.

Why does LeadSync need both my email AND API key?

Copper’s API requires both to authenticate. The email identifies your account, and the API key verifies your permission. Together, they’re more secure than password-based auth. You can regenerate your API key anytime from Copper Settings if needed.

How fast do leads sync to Copper?

Most leads appear in Copper within 1-2 minutes of form submission. LeadSync prioritizes lead delivery to ensure your sales team can follow up immediately.

Do synced leads appear as People or Opportunities in Copper?

LeadSync creates People records. You can then use Copper automation to convert People into Opportunities with a specific status, or your team can drag People into pipelines manually.

Can I sync multiple Google lead forms to the same Copper workspace?

Yes. Set up multiple Google lead forms in LeadSync, all pointing to the same Copper connection. They’ll all feed into the same Copper workspace. Use custom field mappings to differentiate them if needed (e.g., campaign name or source tag).

What if a lead doesn’t have an email address?

LeadSync syncs whatever Google collects. If someone submits your form with just a phone number, Copper will create a Person with that phone number. Email is not required for a Person record to exist in Copper.

Can I update Copper fields after a lead syncs?

Yes. After a lead appears in Copper as a Person, you and your team can edit any field manually. LeadSync only pushes data on initial sync — it doesn’t overwrite existing Copper data later.

What if I regenerate my Copper API key?

You’ll need to update it in LeadSync. Go to your Copper connection in LeadSync, paste the new API key, and click “Update Connection.” Syncing resumes immediately after validation.

Does this work with Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok leads too?

Yes. Create separate lead form connections for each platform (Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok) and point them all at the same Copper connection. All leads land in Copper with consistent field mappings.

What happens if the sync fails?

LeadSync logs every sync attempt. Check your Activity log in the LeadSync dashboard for detailed error messages. Most failures are API key issues, field mapping mismatches, or Google account access problems. If you’re stuck, email support@leadsync.me and include your connection name — responses typically come within 1 hour.
