How Facebook Leads Subscribe to Your Kit Form

Kit (formerly ConvertKit) treats every contact as a subscriber to one or more Forms -- the Form is what triggers Sequences, applies Tags, and tracks subscription source. LeadSync connects via your Kit API key and subscribes each Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, or TikTok lead to the Form you select, with first name, email, and any custom field values you have mapped.

Setup is a single API key from your Kit account (Settings › Advanced › API). LeadSync pulls every Form across your account so you can pick the right destination per lead source -- Facebook leads to your "Paid Social Welcome" form, LinkedIn leads to a different form with B2B-specific automation, and so on.

Tags Trigger Sequences -- Apply Them on Lead Arrival

Kit's Sequences are tag-driven: you pick which Tag starts the Sequence, and any subscriber who gets that Tag enters the email flow. LeadSync supports applying multiple Kit Tags per connection -- so when a lead lands, they not only subscribe to your chosen Form but also receive the Tags that trigger your nurture, lead-magnet delivery, or sales-handoff Sequences.

For multi-product or multi-segment Kit accounts, this is the cleanest routing pattern: tag Facebook leads with fb-lead and product-A-interest, route them to the matching Sequence, while LinkedIn leads get a different tag combination and a different Sequence with no overlap.

Custom Fields and Email-First Default

Kit's default subscriber model is intentionally minimal -- just email and first name. Anything beyond that lives in custom fields, which you create in your Kit account (Subscribers › Custom Fields) and map through the LeadSync field mapping screen. Lead form questions flow into the matching custom field, and you can use those field values in your email copy via Kit's liquid template syntax.

If a lead arrives without an email address (rare but possible on custom Facebook forms), LeadSync skips it -- Kit requires email as the primary subscriber identifier. Otherwise, the contact lands in your Form within seconds and your Sequence starts running.

Frequently Asked Questions

In Kit, go to Settings > Advanced > API and copy your API key. Paste it into LeadSync when adding Kit as a destination. LeadSync will pull every Form in your Kit account so you can pick the right destination for each lead source.
Yes. Set up your LeadSync connection to apply the Tag that starts your Sequence -- every lead synced through that connection gets tagged on arrival, which triggers the Sequence within seconds. This is the standard pattern for paid-social welcome emails and nurture flows in Kit.
Yes. The LeadSync connection settings let you specify multiple Tags as a comma-separated list. All Tags are applied to the subscriber when they enter your Form -- useful for parallel automations (one Tag triggers a welcome Sequence, another adds the lead to a sales-team Smart List).
Create the matching custom field in Kit (Subscribers > Custom Fields) first, then point your lead form question at it from the LeadSync mapping screen. The value flows into Kit and is available in your email copy via Kit's liquid template syntax.
No. Kit de-duplicates subscribers by email address natively, so a repeat submission updates the existing subscriber and keeps them on the Form. Their tags accumulate rather than reset, so subscribed-to-tag Sequences will not re-trigger unless you remove the tag first.
LeadSync skips it. Kit requires email as the primary subscriber identifier, so a lead without one cannot be added. This is rare on standard Facebook lead forms, which include email by default.
Yes. LeadSync supports Kit as a destination for lead forms from Facebook, Instagram, Google Ads lead form extensions, LinkedIn Lead Gen Forms, and TikTok Lead Generation. Each source is its own connection so you can route different ad platforms to different Forms with different Tags.
Yes -- create custom fields in Kit for utm_source, utm_campaign, etc. and map your lead form questions (or hidden fields populated by your ad campaign) to them via the LeadSync mapping screen. The values flow through and become available in Kit's liquid template syntax for personalising follow-up emails.
It depends on the Form's opt-in setting. If your Kit Form is configured for double opt-in, subscribers added via LeadSync receive Kit's standard confirmation email and stay unconfirmed until they click. If single opt-in, they are confirmed immediately. The integration respects whichever setting your Form uses.
